If you’ve ever asked yourself any of the following questions…
“How do I raise my kids to be healthy eaters?”
“Where can I find healthy, family-friendly recipes that aren’t complicated or time-consuming?”
“How can I feed my family better food on a budget?”
“What can I do to make meal planning easier?”
“There’s so much nutrition information out there! How do I know what’s right for my family?”
… then you’re in the right place!
I genuinely believe that healthy eating should be easy, but let’s be honest. With all of the nutrition information (and misinformation) swirling around out there these days, figuring out what and how to feed your family has been twisted into an overly complicated issue.

All of the health and nutrition guidance you’ll find on Home Cooked Happy is grounded in a simple philosophy. This philosophy is based on sound nutrition science and the knowledge gained from both my professional education and years of working as a dietitian with real families just like yours.
Home Cooked Happy Health Philosophy
The best way to eat is a balanced dietary pattern, not a restrictive diet.
Food is meant to be enjoyed.
We are born to be intuitive eaters, trusting our bodies (not our culture) to tell us what, when and how much to eat.
To raise kids who have a healthy relationship with food and their bodies, you need to prioritize your own healthy relationship with food and your body.
Health is not a size or number on the scale.
Rather, your health is the sum of your habits, including not just the way you eat, but also your sleep, your relationships, your mental health, and how you move your body.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been crazy about two things: the joy of eating delicious food and helping others achieve their goals. That’s why I became a dietitian.
After many years of college and graduate school to pursue my dream, I graduated with my Master’s of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and became a Registered Dietitian. Since then, I’ve worked as a pediatric dietitian, counseling children, teens and families on everything from tube feedings, food allergies, Celiac Disease, IBS, and IBD, to picky eating, disordered eating and weight management.
I love it all, but the thing that gets me up every morning is my drive to help kids become intuitive eaters who have a healthy relationship with both food and their bodies.
I realized though that working with kids in a clinic wasn’t always enough to make this happen. Most families are balancing so many competing things that it can be hard to make healthy food a priority. Not to mention the overwhelming amount of nutrition advice out there! Everyone seems to have an opinion on how and what to feed your kids, and it can feel impossible to know if you’re doing the right thing.
I believe that if we’re going to raise a generation of healthy, intuitive eaters, parents need a reliable nutrition guide and a supportive community to eliminate the overwhelm of feeding a family. That’s why I created Home Cooked Happy.
My one and only goal is to give parents like you the knowledge, tools and support you need to feed your family with confidence. No trendy diets. No BS. Just easy recipes, simple meal planning tools, and real, honest nutrition information you can trust.
